EISEA is now International

At the beginning of January, EISEA welcomed a new team member: Dr. Rolando Antonio Gilbert Zequera from Mexico. His international background and experience bring fresh knowledge and perspectives to our energy projects.

Rolando’s journey to Estonia began after completing his master’s degree in France and gaining work experience in Norway in 2021. He then decided to pursue a doctoral degree at Tallinn University of Technology, starting in January 2022, where he successfully defended his PhD in September 2025.

Before this, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico and a Master’s degree in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Mines Paris–PSL in France.

Rolando’s doctoral research focused on the application of artificial intelligence in battery energy storage systems, particularly for electric vehicle applications. His dissertation, titled Artificial Intelligence-Based Predictive Analytics for Battery Energy Storage Systems in Electric Vehicle Applications, was completed at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics at Tallinn University of Technology.

At EISEA, Rolando is responsible for designing and implementing energy solutions that support energy communities, integrate energy storage, and enable efficient grid interaction. His role includes planning, executing, and evaluating innovative energy projects, as well as translating complex technical analyses into clear, practical recommendations for energy companies, public authorities, and other stakeholders.

Rolando’s expertise, combined with close collaboration with the team, enables Estonian islands to enhance energy security, increase the share of renewable energy, reduce costs, and empower local energy communities. All of this is achieved through data-driven planning and optimized grid interaction.
